For some patients, their vision is not adequate for their daily needs, despite the best spectacle correction.

This may be due to a range of eye conditions, including age-related macular degeneration.

A thorough low vision assessment can be offered to identify the degree of visual impairment, and what additional support is required.

This may be through advice about lighting and contrast, use of optical magnifiers, computer technology, or referral to other organisations that can offer help in adapting to reduced vision.

We have a range of optical aids and magnifiers that can be demonstrated and prescribed where appropriate.

We have close links with a number of other organisations to offer support and advice to people with a visual impairment, including the Leeds Hearing and Sight Loss Service.

If required, we can arrange for registration as Sight Impaired or Severely Sight Impaired through our specialist NHS service – Wetherby Eye Clinic.
