Our experienced staff provide that extra special care for those who need it and their carers.

We adapt our approach to the needs and abilities of the patient, and provide extra reassurance before, during and after all the eye test procedures.

Our experience tells us that:-

  • People with learning disabilities have a higher incidence of eye and vision problems, but may not know they have a sight problem and they may not be able to tell others.
  • People with learning disabilities are at a considerable disadvantage if they are cannot see clearly.

We are proud of our long established specialist service that has allowed us to build trust with the patients, by understanding their specific needs and abilities.

We have registered with SeeAbility’s eye 2 eye campaign, which aims to improve eye care and vision for people with learning disabilities.

We use pre-exam questionnaires so that we can adapt the eye exam according to the individual’s need, and post exam feedback to help patients and carers get a better understanding of the outcome and advice given.

For any patient or visitor who needs assistance in entering our practice, please let us know prior to your visit and we will have somebody waiting to help you on your arrival.
